The RPO tours the USA every two years. Ensembles often visit in the off years.

The RPO is famous for producing world class music ranging from the classical repertoire to imaginative partnerships with musicians from other genres. The RPO is also renowned for delivering cutting edge music outreach programs to underserved audiences.

The RPO receives a small percentage of its budget from the British government. It is not supported by the Royal family. The budget is supported by charitable contributions and ticket sales.

The AFRPO supports the USA tour and associated music education programs of the RPO. The AFRPO also provides links for the RPO to American music, educational and community organizations.

The AFRPO is registered with the IRS as a 501c3 charitable organization. Contributions are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

The AFRPO has supported concerts across the USA and innovative programs such as musicians working with stroke victims; outreach to schools and music demonstrations in museums and community organizations.

The RPO performs a wide range of orchestral music, led by Music Director Vasily Petrenko and superb guest soloists. In 2022, the RPO inaugurated a residency program at the Dr Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in Orlando, which included orchestral concerts and collaborations with Jennifer Hudson, the Royal Ballet, Leon Bridges and Lyle Lovett.

Spectacular events are hosted in the USA and the UK. The RPO's 80th Anniversary Gala was held at the Victoria & Albert Museum in the UK. Prior events have been held at Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace and other prominent venues. In the USA, events at Carnegie Hall, the British Consulate in New York and private homes have enabled guests to have informal time with the conductor and musicians.
