RPO Residencies in the USA
In 2022, the RPO inaugurated a residency program at the Dr Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in Orlando, at whose heart is the stunning Steinmetz Concert Hall. A week of inspiring performances included orchestral concerts and collaborations with Jennifer Hudson, the Royal Ballet, Leon Bridges and Lyle Lovett. In September 2022, we used the residency to launch the American arm of our groundbreaking STROKESTRA® program, which uses group music-making to help stroke patients and their loved ones heal physically and emotionally.
Our shared values of excellence and inclusivity have strengthened the relationship, which led to a return visit in the 2023–24 Season.
In 2024, we began a new residency programme in Costa Mesa, California.
These residencies, along with major tours incorporating many other US cities, form the basis for AFRPO-supported outreach programmes conducted in partnership with The Lilia Bloom Music Outreach Program (LBMOP). LBMOP is supported by individual contributions from American citizens committed to bringing the joy and healing power of music to diverse and traditionally underserved audiences.
To join the American Friends of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is to become part of a family that is privileged enough to inspire great music-making and to enjoy exclusive social experiences in the USA and the UK.
